Galway Food Festival

With conferences, food tasting, cocktail master classes and even the Woodquay Country Market, this is going to be one of the biggest festivals in the city of Galway, starting on Thursday 28 and finishing on Monday (April 1)

Recommending some of their activities is not easy, to say the least, as the possibilities depend on your taste and your way of eating and drinking.

You have to know there are four different sort of activities taking place at the same time:

  • Food Trail (find information about the drinks here)
  • Demos (In the Festival Tent)
  • Talks (check our section Other)
  • Markets

And a Mobile Farm will be at South Park Playground this Friday from 11 am to 5 pm, an activity for children (of all ages) carried out by Agri Aware, an organization whose motto is educating consumers about agriculture in Ireland.

Starting with the Markets (there will be 4 markets during the festival) on Saturday from 11 am you can go to Woodquay to enjoy the Country Market, with more than 20 local & artisan food producers. This one day open-air market in Woodquay will seek to highlight local food producers & produce.

There are some good Demos from Friday to Sunday, selecting just one per day, you can learn about:

  • The Art of Baking on Friday at 1 pm
  • Simple Cooking with Local Seafood on Saturday at 4 pm
  • Spring Eating Cookie Monster on Sunday at 5 pm

About the Food Trail, again, it depends on your personal taste in food. The last activity will take place on Monday in The King’s Head. It is the Galway Food Festival Table Quiz. (Tables of four, 20 euros).

Better check the program here to find out what’s on the menu.

We really hope the weather is good enough for the bbq of Thai Garden (Friday from 3:30 pm), and the (hopefully) crazy Mad Hatters Tea Party & Sweet Delights in the Salthill Hotel on Saturday from 11 to 5. There will be a prize for best High Tea Hat!!
