Best Restaurants in Galway

This week The Restaurants Association of Ireland has celebrated the Irish Restaurant Awards in Dublin.

The Awards recognise achievement and excellence in the Restaurant and Hospitality Industry throughout the 32 counties of the Island of Ireland in 21 categories and celebrate all aspects of the Industry from Chefs and Restaurants, Cafes and Gastro Pubs, to Food Producers, Local Food Heroes and Cookery Schools.

And these are the best places in Galway in some of the biggest categories:

  • Best Gastro Pub: Eat@Massimo. Remember our post Food & Rugby?gastropub
  • Best Casual Dinner: Il Vicolo. One of our first posts was about this small restaurant in St. Augustine Street. You can read it here.
  • Best Chef: Enda McEvoy (head chef of Aniar Restaurant)bestchef
  • Best Restaurant: Aniar. We have a beautiful piggy bank and when it is full, we’ll go to Aniar and write about it.
  • Just Ask Award: Oscar’s Seafood Bistro

If you want to know which places are the winners in the different counties of Ireland, check their website.

Quite useful for the summer trips around Ireland and the gastro weekends we all love.

  1. Thats a bit misleading, isnt it? Best Gastro pub was won by The Brewer’s House, Best casual dining by Saba. Sunil Ghai of Ananda was best chef, and best restaurant was The Tannery in Dungarvan. Enda is not head chef in Aniar anymore anyway.

    • Hello warmandsnugandfat,
We are just commenting the categories for Galway, not all Ireland, as our blog is focused in Galway mainly.
So it seems your data and ours are all correct.
But thank you for your comments, as you can see, we add the link to the website to check the long list with all the categories
