From tomorrow, Saturday June 15, and until the next Sunday 23, all the towns in Ireland will enjoy the Bike Week activities.

With free bike checks, fun cycles, electric bike races, school cycling events, road races and much  more, this festival wants to promote the use of bicycles in everyday life.

As usual, we point out some of the activities held in Galway, but you can find all the information for the events in every city and town of the country here

  • Bike Racing for Children (aged 4-13 years) Saturday, 15 June 2013 – 2:00pm to 6:00pm Young children are invited to bike race in Southpark, Galway
  • Wild West Tour Sunday, 16 June 2013 – 8:00am to 6:00pm. Meeting at the Kingfisher Sports Complex, NUI Galway

For experienced Cylists only. Participate in a Cycle Tour of Connemara. Two distances: 45k & 120k

  • Mystery Lunchtime Cycle. Tuesday, 18 June 2013 – 1:00pm to 3:00pm

Participate in a leisurely lunchtime cycle and learn some bike safety en route. Meeting at NUI Galway Campus (opposite Ward’s Shop), University Road, Galway City

  • National BMX Trick & Stunt Competitions Wednesday, 19 June 2013 – 10:00am to 6:00pm in Moycullen, Co. Galway
including demonstrations from professional riders

  • Bike Fest Film Night Wednesday, 19 June 2013 – 7:30pm to 11:00pm. In the theatre An Taibhdhearc, Middle Street, Galway

Come and Enjoy an Evening of Cycling Films

  • Slí na gCaisleán Tour Sunday, 23 June 2013 – 10:00am to 6:00pm

Guided 25 mile Heritage Cycle which will journey over hills, along botharíns and pass seven castles. Meeting at Terryland Castle
