THE IRISH PUB

This week in the Eye Cinema we can watch a very interesting documentary about one of the biggest Irish institutions: THE PUB. Directed and Produced by Alex Fegan (director of Man Made Men, a great story about an arrogant scientist who conducts an experiment to prove whether or not God exists)

The characters in this exceptionally endearing film all run and own pubs that have been in their families for generations and it is through their warmth, wit and wisdom that we gain an insight into the heart and soul of the Irish pub.

Among the places and people they visited is Joe Keane’s in Ma’am Bridge, Connemara and O’Loclainn’s in Ballyvaughan (Co. Clare), you probably want to pay a visit to them after watching the documentary.

Made Of Stone:

There’s some different at the cinema this weekend, not only The Hangover and Fast and Furious… you can go and watch this documentary about the band The Stone Roses, from this Friday at 7 pm in the Eye Cinema.

The documentary is directed by Shane Meadows (This is England, Dead man’s shoes) and it is all about the reformation of the band, their daily life and their rehearsals. Don’t expect the whole history of the band, that would have been too easy and this director prefers to take some risk.

And if you like his style, please, watch This is England, I promise you are going to like it.
